$6-Million Renovation of cancer, other critical outpatient clinics and labs officially opens Sept. 12
VANCOUVER, September 10, 2007 - BC Children's Hospital Foundation invites media and invited guests to attend the opening celebration of the Djavad Mowafaghian Wing. This event is the realization of a dream of Vancouver philanthropist Djavad Mowafaghian, who in 2004 donated $6-million to renovate the Children's Cancer Clinic and other clinics and labs that handle more than 7,000 outpatient visits a year. The renovation of this outpatient area is enabling our caregivers to provide the finest care to BC's children, who are living with debilitating illnesses. Part of the reconstruction includes a brand new lobby with bright, spacious surroundings to greet patients, families and visitors to Children's.
Djavad Mowafaghian is President of V1500 Holdings Inc., a real estate investment development company in North Vancouver. Mr. Mowafaghian was educated in Tehran and became the largest general contractor in Iran where he built major housing developments, hospitals, factories, roads and worked on joint venture projects with numerous European countries. He settled in Vancouver 18 years ago and in November of 2004 announced his $6 million donation to BC Children's Hospital for the renovation of Level One North, now named the Djavad Mowafaghian Wing.
