Superhero Moms of Richmond Join Up
Answering the call for Super Communities, the Superhero Moms of Richmond are already showing off their community spirit and appreciation for Children's Hospital. We don't have to look very far to find that we know someone who has been touched by Children's Hospital. Superhero Moms of Richmond are just one example. Community member, Stacey Friedman has joined the group in honour of her daughter, Gabby. [caption id="attachment_97" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Gabby with her older sister, Sarah"]

Gabby has been a patient at BC Children's Hospital practically since birth. Over 36 medical procedures and a complicated diagnosis later, Gabby is a courageous six-year-old who still visits the hospital for regular check ups.
Over 67 per cent of children seen at BC Children's Hospital come from outside of the city of Vancouver. Gabby is just one of tens of thousands of kids helped by the Hospital every year from community across the Province. I honestly believe that everyone has a connection to the Hospital and a story to tell; whether it is the story of a friend, a neighbour or a family member, there is someone in your life who has been touched by Children's Hospital.
Even I have been a patient of Children's. Born in Kamloops with a minor heart murmur, I was blessed with good health and only came to Children's Hospital a few times for check-ups. But the memories of the Hospital for me are very strong. I remember the doctors talking to me, not about me. I remember the technician showing me what she was looking at on the ECMO machine; showing my heart beat and what a heart murmur looks like.
Children's is a special place and holds an equally special place in my heart. What is your Hospital connection?

Way to go Gabby! You are a true Superhero and have come a long way. BC Children's Hospital will always hold a special place in our family's hearts too. Our daughter Hannah was diagnosed with a heart condition at 10 days old and was very well taken care of by the staff and doctors at BCCH. Now she is doing wonderfully and we are so grateful. Thank you and keep up the good campaign work! Jen
