Update on the Site Redevelopment at BC Children's Hospital
Joanna Newman is a Communications Officer at BC Children's Hospital Foundation
Each day as I come into work, I am amazed to the see how fast the changes are happening here on site. Right behind the Child & Family Research Institute, where our Foundation office resides, the new Clinical Support Building is being constructed. It seems like just yesterday they were digging a giant hole in the ground, and now there stands a strong outline of a new structure.
There is a reason why seeing this new building go up floor by floor is so exciting for me and my coworkers: this is the first phase in the Redevelopment Project taking place at BC Children's Hospital. Our team here at the Foundation has been working with donors across the province to help reach our $200 million fundraising goal to build a new Children's Hospital Acute Care Centre. The Clinical Support Building is the first step in relocating services on site, that will allow the Acute Care Centre construction to begin. So we are a few important steps into an amazing change to Children's Hospital!
Recently great information has been released on what the new Acute Care Centre design will be like. To find out more of these details, that includes the design of patient rooms that will all be private, and a diagram of where services will be located in the building, download the Draft Conceptual Design Guide. You can also keep up to date on the site redevelopment progress through a new website at www.newcw.ca
