Thank you for raising a record $4.4 million at the 30th annual Crystal Ball!
Over 400 guests helped raise a record breaking $4.4 million at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s 30th annual Crystal Ball, presented by Beedie Development Group. Proceeds will go toward the $6-million Children's Healing Experience Project. The project - the first of its kind in Canada – is designed to create inspirational healing experiences by integrating curated, purposeful art into the new Teck Acute Care Centre, scheduled to open in November 2017.
"The opportunity to be a part of such an innovative project that will improve patient care, reduce pain and promote healing compelled and inspired our Crystal Ball guests to dig deep," said Teri Nicholas, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation President and CEO. "Although the new hospital is still a year away from opening, the excitement and anticipation is incredible."
Murals, sculpture, interactive displays, and lighting are just some of the components of the healing experience project – with an overall theme that showcases the majestic splendor of British Columbia. In addition to curated works by Canadian artists, the project will include installations created by the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Science World, Vancouver Aquarium, Royal BC Museum, Vancouver Art Gallery and Museum of Anthropology.
Since its inception 30 years ago, the Crystal Ball has raised close to $25 million for BC Children’s Hospital. This year’s gala at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver was emceed by Global BC’s Chris Gailus and co-chaired by Arya Eshghi and Diane Norton. In honour of the 30th year, Ryan and Cindy Beedie matched individual donations up to $1 million that were over-and-above the evening's regular silent and live auctions. The Beedie's generosity helped drive donations to an all-time high.
