The Campaign for BC Children
Thre is a profound need to improve the space for parents and children at BC Children's Hospital. Why? Because the current Hospital was not designed to meet the needs of children with exceptionally complex conditions.
- Advances in medicine and technology have drastically changed the overall wellness of our patients. In fact, children with illnesses that would once have claimed their lives are now surviving into adulthood. But their survival is not without lasting challenges.
- BC Children's Hospital expects that in the near future the vast majority of beds will be occupied by children with chronic and complex conditions - conditions we are not adequately equipped to deal with.
- Our smallest patients, newborns and infants in their first year of life, require a disproportionate share of resources. Today we can sustain fragile lives and steer them toward health like never before. But it requires the expertise of teams of speacialists, advanced technology and around-the-clock care that BC Children's Hospital alone is expected to provide for the province's one million kids.
BC Children's Hospital Foundation's $200-million Campaign for BC Children is dedicated to achieving three vital objectives that will improve the care available to BC's Children:

1. The construction of a new BC Children's Hospital. This will include state-of-the-art operating suites, an emergency department, intensive care units, healing conducive patient rooms, diagnostics and imaging, and other critical services. The Government of British Columbia has stated its support for the campaign and its commitment to the construction of a new BC Children's Hospital.
2. The expansion of Child Health BC. This is a network of regional health authorities, community hospitals and pediatricians aimed at improving access for children and youth in communities across the province with specialized care closer to home. Child Health BC is funding regional facility improvments, and providing training and education for regional caregivers.
3. The relocation of child development and rehabilitation services to the hospital site from Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children.

WE NEED YOU!
The outcome of this Campaign will be a transformation in the treatment available to kids at BC Children’s Hospital and in communities around the province. British Columbia will also have a greatly improved ability to attract and retain the superheroes we so badly need - the best pediatric healthcare professionals in the world. Only this combination of the best people and modern facilities and equipment can guarantee that our children will receive the care they deserve.
By participating in The Campaign for BC Children you can help to create the healthiest possible future for our children and give them what they are entitled to: active and full lives and the opportunity to pursue their dreams – and ours - unencumbered by illness and disease .
