Teck Supports Children’s Health Across British Columbia
A world leader in the mining industry, diversified resource company Teck has a long history of contributing to the well-being of communities where it operates. Teck and its nearly 8,000 employees across the province have proudly supported BC Children’s Hospital for over twenty-five years because they believe nothing is more important than children’s health.
The Teck Acute Care Centre is named in recognition of the $25-million that Teck has contributed since their donation was announced in 2008. Over the years, Teck employees have supported the hospital and President and CEO Don Lindsay served as chair of the Campaign for BC Children. The community leadership demonstrated by Teck has been instrumental in the Campaign for BC Children achieving its $200 million fundraising goal.
Now as the construction of the Teck Acute Care Centre commences, the true impact of Teck’s contribution can begin to be realized. The Teck Acute Care Centre will feature bright, modern facilities with single occupant patient rooms, access to natural light and roof top gardens. It includes medical/surgical inpatient units, an emergency department, medical imaging and procedural suites, a hematology/oncology department and a pediatric intensive care unit for BC Children’s Hospital.
The Teck Acute Care Centre will be the heart of the new BC Children’s Hospital and the flagship for the transformation of child health care in BC. By naming our new state-of-the-art medical facility after Teck, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation proudly honours the contributions of Teck and its employees, whose commitment continues to touch the lives of children and families across the province.
