BC Children's Hospital raises $1.2 million at 25th Annual Crystal Ball
Proceeds to support the construction of the new BC Children's Hospital
December 6, 2011 - Vancouver, BC - Guests celebrated the 25th anniversary of BC Children's Hospital Foundation's black-tie gala, the Crystal Ball, raising a net total of $1.2 million for the Campaign for BC Children December 1 at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. One anonymous donor marked the occasion with a gift of $100,000 in honour of Diane Norton, who chaired the event for her third consecutive year. And a Ross Penhall painting sold for over $40,000 during the live auction, more than three times its listed value. Proceeds from the gala bring the total raised in the $200-million campaign to over $138 million.
"Every year our guests at the Crystal Ball step up to support children, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars to BC Children's Hospital," said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children's Hospital Foundation. "This year, they showed exceptional generosity and made a huge investment in the future by supporting the construction of a new BC Children's Hospital."
