In life, Cassidy Briggs dreamed of making the world a better place.
She loved nature and all its creatures - her favourite was frogs - and devoured books, taking every opportunity to share her discoveries and enthusiasm with others.
Even after being diagnosed with cancer two years ago and enduring countless procedures and treatments, Cassidy and her beguiling smile continued to inspire those around her.
During her many stays at B.C. Children's Hospital, the avid young artist noticed there wasn't a lot for kids to do while they were there. So she came up with a plan to raise money to buy arts and crafts supplies for the hospital.
Sadly, Cassidy passed away in January before her dream could be fulfilled. But her friends, classmates, teachers and family are now working to make her wish come true.
On Monday (April 12), Cassidy's school, George Greenaway Elementary, is officially launching Cassidy's Craft Campaign with the goal of raising money and collecting enough supplies to create an arts room for young patients at the hospital.
Greenaway principal Yanping Wang said a slide show of Cassidy and a video from B.C. Children's Hospital will be shown at a special school assembly Monday, which will kick off two weeks of fundraising.
