Costco Wholesale and Buschlen Mowatt Galleries
Inaugural Charity Gala raises $35,000
May 18, 2010 - Vancouver, BC - On Thursday, May 13th, Costco Wholesale and Buschlen Mowatt Galleries partnered to raise over $35,000 at the inaugural "Thinking Outside the Box" gala to support the most urgent needs of BC Children's Hospital.
The gala featured hors d'oeuvres prepared by the Glowbal group, oysters by Rodney's Oyster Bar, an intimate live performance from award-winning Canadian country music star Aaron Pritchett, and was emceed by Global BC TV's Claire Newell.
Gala guests raise funds through live and silent auctions, ticket purchases and donations. The live auction, conducted by Barry Scott of Maynards Industries, included a $20,000 painting by internationally recognized artist Ricardo Mazal, and a ‚¬Ã…¡¬ÃƒÆ’‚¬¹Ãƒ€¦‚¬Å“mystery box' vacation package donated by Claire Newell. Auction participants bid on the mystery box with only a few hints as to where the package would take them-a truly unorthodox idea which supports the evening's theme-"Thinking Outside the Box".
The gala event was one of many fundraising initiatives undertaken by Costco Wholesale during the "Miracle Month of May". Other fundraising includes "Miracle Balloons" that adorn warehouses in elaborate displays after purchase from Costco Members for a minimum donation of $2.
Costco Wholesale has supported BC Children's Hospital for over 20 years, raising over $6.5 million in British Columbia in support of BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
