Dr. Djavad Mowafaghian, BC Children’s governor and major donor, to receive Order of BC

Dr. Djavad Mowafaghian, a BC Children’s Hospital Foundation governor and major donor, is one of 14 British Columbians to be awarded the Order of BC in 2012. Lieutenant-Governor Steven Point, who is  Chancellor of the Order of British Columbia, announced the recipients on May 17.

The Order of BC is the province's highest honour and acknowledges the outstanding achievements of British Columbians. Dr. Mowafaghian has been recognized as a business leader, builder and philanthropist. The award ceremony will take place in the fall.

Dr. Mowafaghian is an outstanding individual whose long history of community and philanthropic leadership has touched the lives of countless children and families in British Columbia and around the world. Promoting positive change in society through education and health is a major priority for Dr. Mowafaghian. While his charitable giving in the province is significant, the inspiration he has given to the community and the impact he is having on the lives of children and families in BC is beyond measure.
