Kids Running for Kids arrives at BC Children's Hospital

On June 30 a group of 70 Williams Lake kids started a run to help kids. Wanting to make a difference for kids in their community and for others who are living with conditions that require special care from BC Children’s Hospital they launched a year-long fundraising campaign to raise donations for Children's Hospital and celebrated their efforts by running through communities from Williams Lake, starting June 30, and ending the run at the BC Children's Hospital Hospital entrance on July 7.

The participants, ranging from age six to 18 years old, ran approximately five km each day. Some of these children where inspired by their own BC Children’s Hospital experience such as Isabelle, born 14 weeks premature, Logan, born with a cleft palette and foot deformities and Marcus, who still receives treatment at Children's Hospital to improve his hearing. Many of the participants are also living with chronic conditions that require regular visits to BC Children’s Hospital. Jacob lives with permanent hearing loss that required a Cochlear implant and Parker lives with Type 1 Diabetes.

The original fundraising goal for Kids Running for Kids was $25,000. Through raffles, a dinner and dance, bottled drinks sales at sporting events, a garage sale, recyclables collections and donations from friends, families and community supporters the group has already exceeded $77,000.

From now until August 26, CN will match all donations made to the Kids Running for Kids group as they continue their raising efforts. To have your donation to this group matched by the CN Miracle Match program, donate though their website:
