Annual family fun-run to assume new name: RBC Run for the Kids
January 20, 2016 – Vancouver, BC – RBC has just announced a new five-year partnership with BC Children’s Hospital Foundation as the title sponsor of the newly named RBC Run for the Kids.
RBC Run for the Kids will carry forward a 30--year tradition of the annual family fun run, ChildRun, which saw a record high of 7,000 participants in 2015.
The 2016 RBC Run for the Kids will take place on Sunday, June 5. Through 2020, RBC will be the title sponsor of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s signature running event, formerly known as ChildRun. ChildRun has raised $11 million supporting pediatric oncology research and treatment programs over the last three decades.
Funds raised through RBC Run for the Kids will continue to support the oncology program, and will also support pediatric mental health initiatives at BC Children’s Hospital.
“RBC has been a longstanding supporter of child health in BC, and we are thrilled that the strength of this ongoing partnership will come through RBC Run for the Kids,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “RBC will help to build on the incredible community momentum created by ChildRun over the past 30 years.”
Chip and Shannon Wilson have been major supporters of ChildRun over the past six years, and are excited to continue their support in 2016 under the RBC Run for the Kids banner. Each year, the Wilson Family has personally contributed a financial match to participants who reach a fundraising goal of $1,000 or more.
“RBC believes that helping kids and youth is one of the best investments a company can make,” said Graham MacLachlan, Regional President, BC, RBC Royal Bank. “We are extremely pleased that the RBC Run for the Kids will continue to bring families and communities together to help support the important work of BC Children’s Hospital.
