This weekend there will be a large crane onsite outside of the BC Children’s Hospital Emergency entrance, as part of the construction of new lab facilities in the building.

When: Friday, January 31st 6:00am–Sunday, February 2nd evening

Parking

Beginning Friday, January 31st, at 6:00am, parking in front of doors 35 and 37 will be reserved for ambulances only. Parking will also be temporarily unavailable in front of the Ambulatory Care Building; however a small drop off area will be available for emergency patients.

These parking stall closures will remain in effect until Sunday evening. Please use the underground parkade or the above ground parking near door 17 instead.

Flaggers will be in the area directing traffic.

Entering and exiting the hospital

Beginning Friday, January 31st, at 5pm, all staff, patients and families will be required to enter and exit the hospital through door 17 (Level 1 North by Oncology Clinic) for the remainder of the weekend.

Walk-in patients accessing the Emergency Department must also use door 17. Security will be available to direct patients to the Emergency Department. Directional signage leading to Emergency will also be available.

To access the Ambulatory Care Building staff, patients and families are requested to use the overhead walkway located on the second floor of the BC Children’s main building to avoid the crane lift area.
