Meet 8-year-old Elma, our new Slo-Pitch photographer

The 24th annual Slo-Pitch event is just around the corner! We’re excited to welcome all participants to this three-day softball event and thank all the community and event volunteers for their tremendous support so far.

This year we’re excited to welcome a new volunteer photographer to our team – eight-year-old Elma Arsalan. When Elma’s not attending school, she enjoys watching Disney movies, fighting with her three-year-old sister Aiza for their dad’s tablet and of course, taking pictures. Elma picked up the photography bug a couple of years ago from her dad who shoots semi-professionally.

Elma is often seen taking photos on her walks and anywhere else she can. She received a camera for her eighth birthday and is currently learning basic Photoshop skills. She has hopes of working at the Vancouver Aquarium when she reaches high school so that she can take photos of dolphins and whales, and play with them all day long! Her dream is to become a paleontologist when she grows up.

This year, Elma will help to capture the spirit of Slo-Pitch from her unique child’s perspective. After all, the event is for the kids! Elma will be on-site at Slo-Pitch with her parents on May 24 and 25 so come on out and show her some support!

Below are some pictures Elma took on her first photo walk with her birthday camera. See more of her great photos.

In addition to Elma, we are grateful to our regular volunteer photographers who join us each year. Thank you, Raymond and Sandy from Expressive Motion, for your steadfast support in capturing all the fun at Slo-Pitch over the years. Raymond and Sandy will be at Slo-Pitch again this year so be sure to say hi and pose for a photo when you see them!

The annual Slo-Pitch Event for BC Children’s Hospital is a popular softball event that attracts teams from more than 60 corporations. Up to 1,000 people are expected to attend on May 23, 24 and 25 at Softball City in South Surrey to raise urgently needed funds for BC Children's Hospital. To date, the event has raised over $8.2 million for BC’s kids.

Come and watch all the softball action and join us for a daily barbecue, silent auction, the Aldergrove Financial Group KidZone and much more. See you there!
