The first annual Vancouver Soccer 5’s Tournament is raising funds for BC Children’s Hospital! Spearheaded by Innovative Fitness, participants of the Vancouver Soccer 5’s are encouraged to join in the tournament goal to raise $50,000 and purchase a new anesthesia monitor.
The top priority of our hospital’s surgical team, who perform close to 10,000 surgeries every year, is the safety of our patients during surgery and recovery. The team achieves this by carefully monitoring each child’s vital signs and responding quickly to changes in their condition. Children have increasingly complex conditions that require care and procedures that are equally complex.
Anesthesia monitors, which are attached to anesthesia machines, help to control and manage the delivery of medications and ventilation to ensure a patient breathes properly. These monitors play a vital role in helping caregivers observe the oxygen levels of children who have breathing problems and allow caregivers to monitor the heart rhythms and heart rates of children who are receiving treatments and medicines that may affect their heart.
Through innovation, modern anesthesia monitors are capable of digital connectivity to a central patient care station, which houses ventilation and drug equipment, to be used during surgery. A new monitor for the hospital will ensure more children in BC who need urgent surgical treatment will receive it without delay, this in turn promotes improved patient recovery and allows children to return home as quickly as possible.
Your donation helps ensure the most precious members of our society – our children – receive the best care possible.
