Dr. Manraj (Raju) Heran

“The scope of interventional radiology is changing from us previously being asked ‘what can we do’ to now people thinking ‘what can’t we do.’ The full potential of interventional radiology will be realized in the new  Children’s Hospital”

Dr. Heran graduated from the University of British Columbia medical school in 1996 and completed his diagnostic radiology residency training through the University of British Columbia program in 2001.  Having completed fellowships in Pediatric Radiology (BC Children’s Hospital, 2001), Vascular and Interventional Radiology, as well as in Diagnostic Neuroradiology, he returned to BC Children’s Hospital in 2003.  Dr. Heran is a pediatric interventional radiologist at British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital, as well as Program Director for its Diagnostic Neuroradiology Fellowship.  With cross appointments in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Pediatrics, he is heavily involved in all aspects of medical education and clinical research, his efforts acknowledged by receiving the CAR Young Investigator’s Award in 2011.  Areas of specific interest include the diagnosis and management of vascular malformations, interventional neuroradiology (including acute stroke and other ischemic cerebrovascular disease), and orbital radiology.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Society of Pediatric Interventional Radiology.
