With the mandate "we give where we live" at the heart of its culture and as a leader in telecommunications, it is no surprise that TELUS donated $5 million to help Child Health BC use technology to improve the delivery of specialized care to children across the province.
Of the 78,000 patients who visit BC Children's annually, 67 per cent come from outside the City of Vancouver. This technology will give BC's children and regional caregivers better access to specialized medical expertise, ensuring children receive the highest standard of care no matter where they live. This donation will help minimize or eliminate the need for families to travel to the hospital for treatment, making life easier for both patients and families throughout BC.
Since 1982, TELUS and its employees have donated $10 million (on top of this latest gift) and 20,000 volunteer hours to the hospital. Among TELUS's many volunteers is Peter Green, senior vice-president and president of small and medium business, who serves on BC Children's Hospital Foundation's Board of Directors.
