Frequently Asked Questions

This year’s Crystal Ball will be held on Saturday, November 20th and will feature both a live streamed program for our at-home guests, as well as an in-person option for those comfortable with joining us at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. As part of this year’s gala, hosted by Chris Gailus and Fred Lee, you will learn from our patient families, researchers, and clinicians; browse and bid in our exclusive silent and live auction, and enjoy unique entertainment.

Tickets for our in-person experience at the Fairmont Pacific Rim are now sold out. To be placed on the waitlist, please email crystalball@bcchf.ca. Tickets for our at-home gala experience are still available.

Please note that we will be following the current Provincial Health Orders in place at the time of the event, and will follow safe gathering measures for our in-person guests.

In accordance with BC Public Health Orders, all guests at the Fairmont Pacific Rim will need to complete a COVID Self-Assessment prior to attendance and will require proof of double-vaccination at the event. Guests will be asked to follow current masking guidelines while attending the event.

Our in-person event will also have a reduced capacity of a maximum of 250 guests. We will be live-streaming our in-person event to those guests joining us from home, ensuring that all our guests stay connected on the evening.

For guests who have reserved their ticket, a member of our Crystal Ball team will contact you after September 15 to confirm if you would like to use your ticket for our at-home experience, or to attend our in-person event at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.

This year, we continue our quest to conquer childhood cancers by raising critical funds to further research into personalized medicine, ensure the best and brightest experts are here at BC Children’s Hospital, and to provide families with the emotional support they need to travel this journey. With you by our side, we dare to dream of a future where every child battling cancer survives and thrives. Please see our “Cause”’ page for more details.

We have several opportunities for guests to become involved in this year’s Crystal Ball: sponsorship is available at a wide variety of levels, reserving your package or ticket to attend either at-home or in-person, bidding in our online silent auction, purchasing raffle tickets, or making a gift towards our oncology funding initiative, either in advance of the event or on the night.

At BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, the health and safety of our guests always comes first. Should you feel comfortable hosting a small group of guests in your home, please ensure you follow these important guidelines as outlined by the BC Centre for Disease Control when gathering for our event.

All $1,000 reserved tickets are based on one guest. We ask that if you are hosting others in your home, each guest purchases a ticket to ensure the quality of the event experience and fulfillment of your food and beverage package. You may also choose to purchase our Circle of Care Package.

Tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the tickets. Confirmation of tax receipt amount will be provided in September 2021.

If you have further questions please contact the gala team at crystalball@bcchf.ca, we will be happy to help.
