Amalgamation Announcement

BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Sunny Hill Foundation for Children amalgamate into one organization

We are pleased to announce that as of June 30, 2020, British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital Foundation and Sunny Hill Foundation for Children officially amalgamated into a combined entity—British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital Foundation.

While this announcement marks an official change on paper, the two Foundations have essentially been operating under one administration since 2000, maximizing its shared resources and infrastructure, staff and operational efficiencies for the past 20 years.

“This change reflects what is already established—a unified vision and strategic approach in our work to raise vital donor support for both BC Children’s Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre.” —Lisa Hudson, Board Chair, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation

“This change reflects what is already established—a unified vision and strategic approach in our work to raise vital donor support for both BC Children’s Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre,” said Lisa Hudson, Board Chair, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our shared goals and collective efforts have helped transform care across the entire hospital campus, including the completion of the Sunny Hill Enhancement Initiative this year.”

The Board of Directors for both Foundations will also become one, officially marking a change to the governing structure for the Foundations. With this amalgamation, each member of the Sunny Hill Foundation for Children Board has opted to retire. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation to each of the Board members for their dedicated service: Doug Horswill (Chair); John Smiley (Vice-Chair); Pamela Mitchell (Secretary); Kevin Bent (Treasurer); David Doig and Ron Edwards. These individuals have tirelessly served on this Board for more than 20 plus years.

“It has been a tremendous honour and privilege to serve on Sunny Hill Foundation’s Board for the past 24 years—the last three as its Chair,” said Doug Horswill. “Because of our two Foundations’ longstanding and collaborative partnership, Sunny Hill has made significant strides to be where it is today as one of BC’s leading pediatric rehabilitation and developmental services facilities.”

As Sunny Hill prepares to relocate to the Oak Street campus later this summer, we want to recognize and celebrate the amazing partnership and strong collaboration between the two Foundations that have led up to this achievement.
